Afternoon Nursery

Welcome to Afternoon nursery

Spring term 2020
This term we will be learning all about seasonal changes from Winter to Spring . We will be exploring the beauty of our natural environment and will spend time nurturing our nursery garden and developing children's natural curiosity of their environment.  We will be exploring the outdoor environment and weather including collecting natural materials. We will be helping to look after our garden during the these months including planting and digging as well as caring for the wildlife in our garden.  There are also our weekly Forest School sessions looking after our pond and natural environment.

We will be learning about the wildlife that visits our garden during the winter months including birds and taking part in RSPB Bird watch week. We have been following the interest of children including their current interest in dinosaurs followed by a trip to see Dippy on tour in the museum. We will be learning about different festivals and celebrations from different cultures including Chinese new year, pancake day, valentines day and Easter. We will be looking at being kind to our friends and caring for others including our nursery, wildlife and our friends. This will happen during our nursery session alongside our provision. We will continue to follow the children's interest as and when things arise.

We will be getting to know new children joining us in nursery for the new term and finding out their interests and passions which will guide our future planning. You can help your child by talking about the changes in the weather around them when they are out at the park, making collections of interesting items and bringing them into nursery for us to explore. We will be talking about our special people and places and what is special about every single child.  If you have any ideas you would like to add just talk to one of the nursery team :-)

A list of our core books are below.

Our core books this term are:

'Jack and the Beanstalk'

'Jasper's Beanstalk'

'All about Spring'

We will also be looking at the life cycle of a chick through factual books, pictures, posters and stories
