Afternoon Nursery

Welcome to the Afternoon Nursery page!

Spring Term 2022

This term we will be learning all about seasonal changes from winter to spring. Our nursery garden is key to this process as children show natural curiosity of their environment. They have freedom to explore, create and discover things first hand in our beautiful garden. We want to build upon their interests and offer challenge in these areas as well as encouraging sustainable development and the importance of taking care of our world. We will be learning how to care for living things and help the wildlife in the garden in these cold winter months. We will take part in the Big Schools Birdwatch scheme and observe which species are visiting our nursery garden. We will be looking for new signs of life as the earth wakes up and the first flowers start to bloom. We will be explore how things grow from seed to plant and will actively take part in caring for our vegetable patch in the nursery garden.

We will be welcoming new friends to our setting in the spring term and will be helping them to settle in and build new friendships with adults and children.  We will also be developing independence as children are encouraged to put on their own coats, hats and gloves.

Right's Respecting Schools

As a Rights Respecting School we will be focussing on a different right each half term. We will also be celebrating our achievement of gaining our Silver Rights Respecting School Award this half term. We are so proud of the children, staff, parents and community for their ongoing support.

This half term will be learning about:

Article 2- Rights are for everyone

Article 28- I have the right to learn new things

Article 29 - Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must respect the child’s human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own, and other cultures, and the environment

We always try to follow the interests of the children when we set up the nursery and plan activities. If you have any ideas you would like to add just talk to one of the nursery team :-)

Our core songs and rhymes this term are:

I Dig My Garden

I dig my garden, dig, dig, dig
I dig my garden, I dig it deep
I plant some seeds and watch them grow, but
along comes a rabbit, oh no
along comes a rabbit, oh no

He eats my carrots, munch, munch, munch
He eats my carrots, he eats the whole bunch
I run to the garden and shu, shu, shu, but
the rabbit will come back, oh what shall I do?
the rabbit will come back, oh what shall I do?

Sleeping Bunnies

See the little bunnies sleeping til it’s nearly noon
Shall we wake them with a merry tune?
They're so still, are they ill?
No! Wake up bunnies!
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop
Hop little bunnies, hop and stop

 Two Litte Dickie Birds

Two little dickie birds sitting on a wall,

One named Peter, one named Paul.

Fly away, Peter!   Fly away, Paul!

Come back, Peter!   Come back, Paul!
