Morning Nursery

Welcome to the Morning Nursery page!

Autumn Term 2020
This term we will be learning all about seasonal changes from Summer to Autumn, and Autumn to Winter. We will be exploring the beauty of our natural environment and will spend time nurturing our nursery garden and developing children's natural curiosity of their environment.  We will be exploring the outdoor environment including collecting natural materials, and will enjoy outdoor experiences in all weathers. We will be helping to look after our garden during the these months including planting and digging as well as caring for the wildlife in our garden, for example making bird feeders.

We will be learning about the wildlife that visits our garden during the autumn months including birds, squirrels and spiders. We have been following the interests of children including their current interest in dinosaurs, and we have been making some large dinosaur eggs in the art studio and using our small world dinosaurs for imaginative play. We will be looking at being kind to our friends and caring for others including our nursery, wildlife and our friends. This will happen during our nursery session alongside our provision. We will continue to follow the children's interest as and when things arise.

Creativity plays a big part in a child's development, and this term will see us getting creative using natural resources, for example leaf painting and creating autumn collages with the materials that we have collected. We will also be exploring our senses through lots of messy play, for example colour mixing with our hands and foam play. On rainy days we will enjoy jumping in puddles and observing cause and effect using the chutes and jugs to watch what happens as we pour water down the chutes. The mud kitchen will provide opportunities to explore different scents and textures, making potions with different flowers, leaves and herbs.

We will be getting to know new children joining us in nursery for the new term and finding out their interests and passions which will guide our future planning. You can help your child by talking about the changes in the weather around them when they are out for a walk. We will be talking about our special people and places and what is special about every single child. If you have any ideas you would like to add just talk to one of the nursery team :-)
