Our Allotment is situated in Pengam Pavillion Allotment Gardens and is a 10 minute walk from the nursery. We are currently working in collaboration with groups of parents and the allotment committee to create an off-site space, so that children can experience growing and harvesting through the seasons. Some key experiences for children may include planting a seed in the spring or harvesting pumpkins in the autumn. We want to ensure that children see the process of planting through so regular visits to the allotment are essential. 

Our allotment is a ‘work in progress’. We have created short, medium and long term action plans for the allotment. In the future, our environment will include raised beds for planting, sensory gardens, fruit trees and bushes, a compost heap, a water butt, a log circle, bird feeders and a laboratory for investigation. Our aim is to take POD groups with their key person for a number of regular sessions and for this space to become part of our curriculum offer when the environment is ready to support learning.
