Nursery School
As part of our Bespoke Curriculum Offer, all children will have the opportunity to attend a block of Forest School Sessions.
These are usually based on-site in our Forest School area at the back of our nursery garden.
Our aim is to support children to develop a deep love and respect for nature.
Forest School is a unique educational experience.
It is a process that offers children and young people regular opportunities to achieve and to develop confidence and self esteem.
This is accomplished through hands on learning experiences in a woodland environment.
Its 'principle purpose' is to tailor make an educational curriculum to a child’s preferred learning style, taking into account his / her state of well-being and previous experiences.
Forest School Philosophy
To encourage and inspire individuals through mastery of small achievable tasks in a woodland environment, to grow in confidence and independence in order to develop well-being and a sense of self worth.
To encourage children to become, resourceful, resilient, and reflective thinkers and learners who make maximum use of their environment (including the people around them) when learning.
Key Experiences in Forest School
Children face physical challenges such as tree climbing.
Children have first hand experience of the seasons.
Children explore pond dipping and learn about the wildlife found in ponds.
Children learn about flora and fauna found in a woodland environment.
Children use tools in order to care for the garden and to make things out of wood.
Children learn about fires, fire safety and the use of fires in the environment.
We have 5 trained Forest School Leaders in the nursery.
Daisy Worrall and Simone Burman are responsible for leading the Forest School groups.
