This week we have started to learn and practice our Christmas songs ready for our Christmas concert in a few weeks time. We have developed our role play area into a stable learning about the different animals. We are starting to introduce Christmas stories at Group time and during the session. We have been busy making Christmas stay and play invites ready for next week! Our messy area has included shredded paper this week where children have become engaged exploring the texture and enjoying the cause and effect when making it 'snow' with paper.

This week in nursery children were showing lots of interest in using natural materials to make art including stones, small sticks, and blocks. We have been looking at the story of Owl Babies and Wow said the Owl learning about owls and colours. We took part in wave of blue for World Children's day wearing blue and exploring lots of activities around the colour blue, this included face painting, blue play dough, puzzles and loose parts for construction.

This week in nursery we have been looking at the natural environment outdoors and using the resources to begin to sort by object including fir cones, conkers, and leaves. The children have been on autumn hunts outdoors collecting resources in baskets and then sorting objects by colour, size and matching them. We have started to look at the work of Andy Warhol for inspiration for using natural resources to make art work. We have made a hibernation corner in nursery where we are looking at different animals that hibernate. During group time sessions we have introduced the story Owl Babies. On Friday we wore spots and stripes to take part in Children in Need!
