This week in nursery we were busy exploring the texture of clay! We enjoyed getting really messy using our hands to touch, mould and move the clay. We also began to make small bird models looking closely at their features following on from bird watch week. Children were developing lovely descriptive language by exploring the texture of clay.

This week in nursery we have been learning about different cultures and celebrations. In the home corner we have been exploring Chinese resources including small bowls and chop sticks to role play cooking noodles. The children have been tasting a range of different food for snack including vegetable stir fry which they have helped to chop up and peel. We have been learning about the traditions of Chinese new year during our group time sessions and that it is the Year of the Rat. In our garden we have been taking part in RSPB Bird watch week the children have been learning about the names of the different birds that visit our garden and how to identify them. We have been mark making to count how we many we could find and learning about what birds like to eat.

This week in nursery we have been going on a dinosaur hunt in our garden, they have been hiding in lots of different places including the cave, builders yard and even in the muddy kitchen! The children have been engaged in creating their own dinosaur hunt and it has developed into games such as hide and seek. Our fairy and knights small world play has been popular with children making their own fairy wings, building castles using recycled materials and blocks as well as making fairy wands. We have also been busy making magic potions which can turn you into frogs! The children have been listening to the story We're going on a bear hunt and have been developing creative skills when using props to act out the story in our puppet theatre.
