This week in nursery we have been exploring and celebrating Divali. The children have been watching clips on Divali and learning all the traditions and celebrations of others. We have been making our own diva lamps using clay in the art studio and then being very creating in decorating the lamps as beautifully as we can. We have also been using the colourful floor tiles to copy and create our won Rangoli patterns. At the end of the week we had a fantastic time celebrating Divali by having a Divali party where we danced and dressed up in traditional Indian clothes and tried some Indian food.
....In other nursery news, we have been continuing our play and fascination in fire fighter play in the garden. we have now designed and built our own fire trucks with working hose pipes to put out the many fires in the garden.

This week in nursery we have been exploring all things messy in the messy area. the children have been exploring and experimenting different sensory resources from porridge oats to gloop and shaving foam to wet sand. the children have really loved getting stuck in to explore its properties and using some lovely language to describe what it feels like. We have also been building our core strength and coordination in the garden when travelling in various ways across the ever growing and changing obstacle course. the children have been problem solving how to get across when faced with tricky paths and getting through the sticky web maze. In group times we have been having such fun exploring the Gruffalo story, we have sang and danced our way through the Gruffalo story and began to act out the story ourselves.

This week in nursery we have been continuing to explore Autumn throughout the nursery. The children have been using the over head projector to look at the shadows created by various Autumn objects such as leaves, Autumn vegetables, conker shells etc. The children then have been drawing around the objects, developing their understanding of shape and mark making skills. We have also been following the children's interests in spiders by having spiders and pipes in the water where we have been exploring water flow and measure. We have also been making some lovely spiders out of clay in the garden where we have been on autumn treasure hunts to find resources for the spiders legs and eyes. At the end of the week we were very exited to make some spidery biscuits that were truly delicious!
